Historical drama loosely based on the real life of Anne Lister, a woman in 1830s Yorkshire who lived openly as a lesbian, even taking a wife. It’s fine, but Anne sometimes seems a bit manipulative – which is better than having a perfect protagonist, but means we’re not always rooting for her. Also, I never really bought the romance, but it is well done and well acted.
