In the first season, Jessica Biel plays an ordinary young wife and mother who suddenly erupts in anger at a young man at the beach and kills him. The show pieces together her past to reach the devastating reason why she did what she did. In the second season, the same detective from the first season (Bill Pullman) investigates why a young boy killed two adults. This is a “why done it” not “who done it.” In the third season (which I didn’t finish), a man allows his good friend to die in a car accident. That season didn’t grab me. Season 4 is more of a whodunnit.
