After her father is killed in a struggle session during the Cultural Revolution, a young Chinese scientist makes a decision that ripples down through history. We catch up with the story present day, where a group of friends, physicists, realize that an alien invasion is imminent. I read the book and the physics takes over the story – the show deals with that problem, changing the focus to the characters and the story. It can still be a bit much to follow, with enigmatic characters, a mysterious game, competing factions and a detective trying to figure out what’s going on. Still, a good story.
