This comedy is a send up of the many documentaries that purport to seriously cover the history of whatever. The presenter, fictional character Philomena Cunk, spouts nonsense with an earnest seriousness and asks experts to answer absurd questions – they’re in on the joke and try to answer with equal seriousness, but I have to believe that there is a lot of laughing on the blooper reel. It’s hard to explain why this is so funny, you just have to watch it. Pro tip – if a map is shown, pause the screen and look at it – I was particularly amused by a map showing the progress of Ghengis Khan labeled “Ghengis” and “Ghengisn’t.”
