British teen comedy centers on Otis, a teenager whose mom is a sex therapist with some serious boundary issues played by the great Gillian Anderson. At school, Otis discovers that he HAS been paying attention to his mother and he starts a business, assisted by his new friend Maeve, dispensing sex and relationship advice. Very explicit, often squirmingly uncomfortable, sometimes difficult, this show is most often funny and interesting. The characters generally manage to avoid tropes, although it can sometimes be predicable in the other direction in its desire to avoid stereotypes. The second season was darker, with virtually all of the characters dealing with complicated situations, and not always well.
