This political thriller got mixed reviews, but I’m not sure why – I loved it. The premise is that Kate Wyler (Keri Russell) is a career state department fixer and doer – she works best behind the scenes, making things happen. Her husband, Hal (Rufus Sewell) is a career ambassador, charming and connected. For Reasons, she (not he) is appointed to be the US Ambassador to the United Kingdom at a pivotal time right after a British Navy ship has been attacked and the UK is out for revenge. Kate takes on a role that she isn’t necessarily suited for and makes it her own with her keen problem-solving savvy. Meanwhile, Hal can’t resist some wheeling and dealing of his own, which complicates things. I was drawn in and am looking forward to more seasons.
