Widely regarded as the best tv show made, I’m sure it was true at the time. Gritty, realistic, well-written and well-acted. It follows drug dealers in Baltimore and the police who try to keep the streets safe. This is the show that launched Idris Elba’s career. It’s good, it really is, but it falls into tropes of swearing and gross misogynism as “gritty realism” and its dearth of female characters starts to grate.
